Exporting a Prescription
Ensure Prescription is Active
Only active prescriptions can be exported. Mark draft prescriptions as active first.
Click Export PDF
From prescription list or preview dialog, click "Export PDF" button.
PDF Downloads Automatically
Your browser will download the PDF file.
Review and Print
Open the PDF to review before printing or sharing.
PDF Contents
The printed script follows the NSW Health sample layout: compact, with no section headings, so most scripts fit on one page.
Prescriber
- Clinic name, address and phone
- Your name and registration
- "FOR ANIMAL TREATMENT ONLY"
- Prescription number
Patient and owner
- Patient name, species, age and weight (whichever were entered)
- Owner's name and postal address
Owner phone and email are not printed. A pharmacist with a question contacts the prescriber, not the owner.
Medicines
Each medicine is a plain Rx line with:
- Drug name, strength and form
- Quantity and repeats
- Directions
- Its unique medication number
Pharmacist notes
Printed only when the script has notes for the pharmacist.
Signature and count
- The unused space below the medicines is scored through, so nothing can be added by hand
- Number of medicines on the script
- A signature line with your printed name and the date. Sign it by hand.
Paper Size
Scripts print on A4 or A5. Choose your size under Account > Organisation Information > Prescription Paper Size. A4 is the default.
Each script keeps the size it was activated at. If you switch from A4 to A5, scripts you have already issued still reprint on A4, so a reprint always matches the page you signed.
Printing Tips
For best results:
- Paper: Load the paper size set in your account
- Settings: Print at 100% scale (no fit-to-page)
- Quality: Select "High Quality" or "Best" in printer settings
- Margins: Use default margins
